The Attention Economy is an approach to the management of information that treats human attention as a scarce commodity, and applies economic theory to solve various information management problems related to its acquisition.
Although Attention Economics draws upon several sources, it's relation to and influence within new media, and specifically the Internet, is largely drawn from the work of Michael Goldhaber, currently head of the The Center for Technology and Democracy, and a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley's institute for the Study of Social Change.
