The Fair Use project is an initiative of Stanford University's Center for the Internet and Society to both define and expand the understanding of fair use in the digital age. The project, funded by Google advocates for a more permissive legal view of fair use when compared to traditional content owners (music, film, television and newspaper for-profit organizations). The project reflects the point-of-view that an expanded understanding of fair use will enable greater collaboration, creativity and technical advances.
