Paul Levinson is author of fifteen books and novels, including the 2009 New New Media, published by Penguin Academics. His 1999 Digital McLuhan: A Guide to the Information Millennium takes many of Marshall McLuhan's famous observations and talks about their relevance in today's world. He is Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Fordham University in New York City.

Levinson's articles have appeared in Wired magazine, the Village Voice, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution among many other venues. He has been interviewed and quoted in major newspapers and magazines and appeared on radio and television over 500 times,   In April 2009, The Chronicle of Higher Education named him one of Twitter's top ten "High Fliers".  Levinson is the originator of the anthropotropic principle, as developed in his 1979 doctoral dissertation, Human Replay: A Theory of the Evolution of Media.

He was President and founder of Connected Education, an organization that pioneered the offering of graduate courses on the Internet starting in 1985, and continuing for more than a decade. He was also Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Social and Evolutionary Systems.  Prior to his academic career he was a songwriter and record producer.
